Navigating data with grids

Answer:

Grids are composed of the following higlighted parts:

  • Column Headersdefine the data by name stored in that column.
    • Clicking on the column will toggle sorting in that column.
    • Columns may be resized by dragging the line between columns in the direction you wish to grow or shink the column in
  • Column Filters (funnel icon) allow filtering of the selected column
  • Data Area displays the records available in this data set.  This area may have a "twistie" in the first column that allows you to expand and collapse the viewable record.
  • Page Selector allows you to jump to a page in the list by using the supplied numbers, or use the VCR-like buttons to navigate through the pages (First Page, Previous Page, Next Page, Last Page)
  • Items Per Page allows you to select how many records to display in the grid at a time.  Note, this number may be larger than the actual items to be displayed.
  • Total Records displays the total count of the records.  This count will apply to any active filter you have applied.
